8 - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

1) I installed the application and I have a screen asking me to license the software. What is this?

This is the new licensing method for the Movie Magic software that allows it to be easily unlicensed and re-licensed on your machines. Your purchase of Movie Magic should have included an order number. After connecting to the Internet choose the "License" option. In the next screen enter your order number and choose "get license". After a few seconds you should receive a response that the software is now licensed. If you do not have an Internet connection you can select the phone option, which allows you to call a sales representative and get one verbally. Once licensed the software will continue to run until unlicensed or the subscription period ends.

2) I need to move my software to a new machine, can I do that?

Absolutely! Simply open up the Windows explorer or your "My Computer" icon. Locate the eLicense control and click it. This should display any licensed application you have. After connecting to the Internet, right click on the application you want to unlicense and from the menu choose unlicense. This will unlicense this computer. You may now relicense another machine. If you do not have an Internet connection you can select the phone option that allows you to call a sales agent and get unlicensed verbally.

3) I am trying to license my software and I keep getting an error that I am not connected to the Internet. I know I am, what's going on?

You are probably dialing in from a LAN (local area network) from work that has a complex firewall installed. These firewalls can make communications like this difficult at times. Check the proxy button to see if your proxy settings are correct (your network administrator can probably help).

If you still have problems, use the phone option for licensing from this machine.

4) Will uninstalling the program remove my schedets from my hard drive?

No, Movie Magic Scheduling will only remove program files. It will even leave behind the Movie Magic Scheduling folder (mms).

5) I need to re-install the software, what should I do about my license?

The eLicense obtained and installed by your Order ID is independent of the software itself. Once you have a license, you can uninstall, re-install, etc. the software without any effect on the license.

6) I need to reformat my computer, what should I do about my licenses?

You should unlicense before you reformat the drive. Then when you are finished and have re-installed the eLicensed software, re-license.

7) What do I do if my computer is reformatted before I unlicensed?

Try to get your license using your Order ID. If that does not work, please contact us at:

http://www.moviemagictechnologies.com/support/custommersupport/

8) I try to get my license, but the program just hangs. What do I do?

This can occur if you have personal firewall/proxy software installed on your system. That software operates by a set of permissions created when you installed it or by some configuration process (for example, it has been told to let your browser retrieve data from websites). It does not know what to do with eLicense data returning from the license server, so it just gives up.

Disable the personal firewall / proxy software. In some cases it has been found that disabling is not easily possible, and it may be necessary to temporarily uninstall the software. Complete the purchase and / or get the license. It may be necessary to enter the correct proxy settings manually in the Proxy dialog. Re-enable or re-install the firewall / proxy software.
