Payroll Privacy Programs Upgrade
Effective July 1st, 2003, a new law (PDF) went
into effect, which attempts to protect individuals from identity theft. The law specifically
states the following: "A person or entity, not including a state or local agency, shall not
do any of the following: Print an individual's social security number on any materials that
are mailed (Note - This term is defined to include FedExp/UPS, E-mail and Faxing) to the
individual, unless state or federal law requires the social security number to be on the
document to be mailed (e.g. check stubs, W-2s, etc.). Notwithstanding this provision,
applications and forms sent by mail may include social security numbers." All reports sent
directly from EP will be modified to comply with the law, including those generated through
Vista Payroll. The Vista Privacy Programs upgrade are available
by clicking Download or if you prefer, please contact Customer Support to receive program updates; include name, voice phone
number, Vista license number(s) and production name(s).
