EP Budgeting Improvements and Issues for 6.5
Navigation
  • Budgeting users can now choose between the EP Budgeting keyboard and shortcut keys or the legacy Movie Magic keyboard and shortcut keys.

Data Integrity
  • EP Budgeting has added an enhanced Save and Recovery system whereby budgets are saved and date stamped the moment the budget is opened, preventing data loss in the event that a user inherits a budget containing corrupt data.

Printing
  • The Topsheet header setup for Budget and Budget Comparison reports has been streamlined to make setting up headers and footers more intuitive.
  • Groups, Locations, Sets, and Currencies choices now print on the Subset report.

User Interface
  • Copy/paste functionality between budgets has been made easier.

Compatibility
  • Updated Windows installer to support Microsoft Vista OS

Known Issues
  • EPB 6.5 is not backwards compatible with EPB 6.2 or earlier releases. Once a budget prepared in version 6.2 or earlier is opened in version 6.5, that budget will no longer be able to be read in an older version of the application. All users should update for free to EPB version 6.5.
  • There are rounding differences between EP Budgeting and Movie Magic Budgeting. EP Budgeting rounds at the Account level, while Movie Magic Budgeting rounds at the Topsheet level. Expect a difference of plus (+) or minus (-) X per account in EP Budgeting. To find detail lines where differences occur, read the exported MMB file back into EPB and save it under a different name. The budget comparison feature can be run to find the differences.
  • Caption fields are printed as garbage characters when printed from Windows® Vista®. Select a font other than Trebuchet (currently the default font for EP Budgeting) to resolve this issue.
  • Cannot save Header/Footer information from the Budget Comparison window. An EPB budget must be open before running Budget Comparison to address this issue.
  • Fringes and Globals values are not calculated correctly on PCs in Windows® OS when working in European locales. Change PC locales to English (United States) when running EPB to resolve this issue.
  • In Windows Vista, printing within the setup tables will abruptly shutdown EPB if a printer is selected other than the default printer. This is due to the fact that some printers may not work properly on Windows® Vista®. As such, always select the default printer when printing setup tables in the Windows® Vista® operating system.
  • Mac users are unable to select non-contiguous rows in setup tables and Details level worksheets. Select rows individually or contiguously to resolve this issue.
  • There are various undo/redo issues in setup tables and worksheets for which no remedy currently exits.
  • Cut/copy/paste and undo/redo funtions in EP Budgeting do not mirror other spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel®. Please check your cut/copy and paste and undo/redo routines for accuracy.
Critical Update

EP Budgeting to Movie Magic Budgeting Export Notes

You must run a complete Recalculation after exporting to Movie Magic to ensure accuracy.

Differences between EP Budgeting and Movie Magic Budgeting:

Rounding:
EP Budgeting rounds at the Accounts level while Movie Magic rounds at the Topsheet leve. Expect rounding differences of plus (+) or minus (-) the total number of accounts in your budget.

Currencies:
All currencies in EP Budgeting will be set up as a global in Movie Magic and expressed as single alpha character in the “X” column. In order to view the “X” column by its numerical equivalent, change the Globals display to “value” in the Movie Magic Globals Setup table.

Groups:
If you’ve chosen to include fringes in your EP Budgeting groups, those group fringe calculations will be different in Movie Magic because the ability to fringe groups is not available in Move Magic.

Sets and Locations:
If the location or set columns were used in EP Budgeting, they will not be exported to Movie Magic Budgeting, however budget totals will not be affected.

Printing:
Due to design differences, the page count in Movie Magic will be lower than in EP Budgeting. To locate budgeted accounts refer to the “page” column on the Topsheet of both applications.

Contractual Charges Display:
The following steps will render a correct display of your EP Budgeting contractual charges in Movie Magic:
  • In MMB, do a complete recalculation.
  • Double-click on the Contractual Charge line on the Topsheet.
  • Click OK.
  • Notice display matches EPB.
Foreign Character Support:
Movie Magic does not support certain foreign characters like Cyrillic, Hindu, Hebrew, Farsi, Kanji, Hiragana, etc. and any language using the Roman alphabet as its base alphabet. For best results, please remove these foreign characters prior to export.
